ADOPT A PET

Take a look at our adoptable dogs and cats and apply for the one you think could be your puuurfect family member. 

If you don’t see an animal that catches your eye, you can fill out our adoption application as a general application and our adoptions team will work with you to find the right pet for your needs and the animal’s needs. 

If you are interested in a foster-to-adopt trial for any of our animals located outside of the DMV, we can work with you to transport the animal here for a trial adoption. Please make sure to indicate an interest in foster-to-adopt in your adoption application or email esmer@justiceforpaws.org for more support.

After receiving your application, a member of our team will reach out to schedule an adoption interview. We’ll review your application with you and answer any questions you may have. We will also conduct a virtual home visit during the interview, so we may ensure your home meets the requirements of the pet you are considering.

Keep in mind that we have to ensure the unique needs of every animal in our care. We may suggest other animals at this time.

Justice for Paws encourages same day adoption if all parties want to move forward. In this scenario, you’d pay the adoption fee and complete the adoption agreement on-site at the meet and greet and take your new best friend home with you on the same day! 

If you would like more time to decide, we will request a final decision about whether or not you’d like to move forward with the adoption within 24 hours. You will work with the foster to set up a pick up time and date after your adoption donation and agreement has been processed.

Our team will send you electronic copies of any medical records and a post adoption packet. We are here for you every step of the way, even post adoption! Keep Justice for Paws updated on your new family member.
